Dichroic glass was developed by NASA in the 1970's space program. It is well known for its refractive qualities and is made from many layers of glass. Fused glass is layers of glass that is cut to the desired shape heated at sets of varying temperatures over many hours until the glass melts together, hence the name fused glass.
